Software Engineer, AI Safety

Job Description

Job Title: Software Engineer, AI Safety. Location: San Francisco, CA, USA

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain anti-abuse and content moderation infrastructure.
• Collaborate with engineers and researchers to develop tools that measure and enhance AI alignment with human values.
• Diagnose and resolve live incidents, and develop infrastructure to prevent future occurrences;
• Implement and maintain trust and safety systems to reduce platform risks and promote user protection.
• Evaluate risks in new features or products and propose safe, innovative mitigation strategies;
• Build infrastructure that scales with rapidly growing AI technologies and production demands.

Qualifications:

• Strong experience in Python or comparable languages (C++, Rust, Go).
• Proven ability to operate and debug production systems in a fast-scaling environment.
• Experience in content safety, abuse prevention, or AI safety infrastructure.
• Familiarity with or eagerness to work with modern ML deployment and monitoring tools.
• Strong judgment in balancing product usability and safety;
• Self-driven with project management skills to independently lead initiatives;
• Comfort working with tools like Kubernetes, Kafka, Postgres, and Terraform is a plus.
